Guess I need to imagine a certificate on the wall announcing that the person in question has a certifiable disease so that I can be as patient with them as I am with my dad.
Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, which I think I've posted here before, but it bears repeating (that is, for me, it bears repeating a few times daily):
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle.
Carol ... we've recently started having an Organic Vegetable box delivered weekly.
ReplyDeleteWhat possible connection you ask yourself?
On the bottom of their paperwork are the words
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle.
OK ... so delivery for your is out of the question but you might be interested in their website

Bet you never guessed comments on your post would take this direction!
Dancing,
ReplyDeleteHmmmm... two times in one day. Coincidence??? I think that this is my new mantra - I need to stay aware of it when dealing with someone who will remain anonymous in this blog. :-(
Thanks for sharing the link. I stole the beetroot, orange and pecan salad off of it. Yum!
We have similar companies here but we've never used them since we have such a large garden in the summer. Of course, a couple of years ago, when nature had other plans for our garden, we could have enjoyed such a program...
I bet it's fun to receive a box of surprises every week!
Hello dear
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing Dear?
Have a great week!
Love
Sabi Sunshine
i know exactly what you mean. i need to work on this too. i wonder though how many people imagine me with an imaginary certifiable disease certificate hanging over my head .. lol ..
ReplyDeleteSS,
ReplyDeleteDoing well. Thanks! I hope that things are good with you, also. I haven't been by for awhile. Will do that momentarily.
Foam,
ReplyDeleteMaybe we all need to see everyone as having a certifiable disease certificate hanging over their heads. After all, we probably all could be considered certifiable with regards to something.
I think I'll go make my own certificate right now! ;-)
Carol: Great quote. True, too. All the battles aren't diagnosed, or if they are diagnosed, they aren't always open to public scrutiny. Just curious, what would your certificate say?
ReplyDeleteG.G.,
ReplyDeleteHmmmm... I think that I could actually qualify for quite a number of certificates.
The first one that comes to mind:
"This is to certify that A Peace Carol has been diagnosed with SelfDoubtItis. Please be kind to her as she is doing the best she can. The Surgeon General's office has determined that, although this disease is quite common, it is not contagious."
Carol: A sense of humor in the face of adversity is a plus! I'd qualify for several certificates, myself. I used to want to hang a sign around my neck that would say any number of Be Nice to Me's. I don't so much anymore, so maybe that means it passes? Or do we just keep on keeping on?
ReplyDeleteG.G.,
ReplyDeleteProbably both, huh? It passes and we keep on keeping on.
But while we're there, it's important to nurture ourselves. I've been holing up a lot lately. Saves a lot of certificate-making. ;-)
This conversation has helped me to understand that the person who I originally wrote this post about is also feeling self doubt and a desire for others to be kind. I can offer that!
I am glad that you no longer need your Be Kind signs. You are a very strong woman.
I think we all need to be nice to ourselves.
ReplyDeleteLet's just do it.
