A Wild World

I was stopped, waiting for traffic to pass so that I could make a left-hand turn. I heard nearby thunder. It passed me by in the form of a camouflage-painted jeep which had all kinds of outdoor gear and cycles attached to its top and back end. The thunder was actually John Lennon belting out "Give Peace a Chance" so loudly that I could understand the words when the jeep was a half a block away.

Maybe the louder we sing about peace and the more we offer our music to anyone around, whether they want it or not, the higher the chances we really will have peace in our world.

Or maybe the guy driving just likes the song.

A lot.

  1. Reading this post made me smile- so I guess in a way, he's already helped spread a little peace. :)

  2. Thomas,

That's great! We never know how peace will spread, do we?

  3. I suppose it's just me being curmudgeonly but "offering our music to anyone around, whether they want it or not" doesn't sound like a good way to promote peace. (Not to mention loud music and peace can be seen as a bit oxymoronic.) I don't like people subjecting me and the neighborhood to unnecessary noise levels even when it happens to be in the form of a song I like (which I do in this case).

  4. Larry,

I don't like hearing the loud music of others either. I guess I didn't make clear that my "oxymoronic" alarms were going off big time as I watched and heard this amazing show of jeep bravado yelling "peace".

As much as I don't appreciate the "sharing" of music, I did find this guy to be beyond my comprehension. And, this time anyway, I chose to feel peace instead of irritation. The show was just too good.

  5. I guess if the music is just passing by it's not such a problem - now if he had come and parked outside your house!

I thought by the title of the post it might have been a Cat Stevens' song.

Incidentally I never mentioned the other day what a FINE roof you now have.

  7. Dancing,

Yeah, there is a limit to my enjoyment of the weirdness of this world, I guess. If the sound had been more than a passing moment, another post would have had to have been written.

It's funny that, upon hearing the amazingly loud music and seeing the vehicle that it came out of, my mind immediately went to singing about this Wild World. I thought that song was more appropriate and accurate for a title than anything about peace.

It IS a fine roof, isn't it? I have never been one to admire roofs, but this one is admiration-worthy. :-)

  8. Goodnight,

That man is just spreading smiles and peace everywhere he goes! I think that was his goal and he is succeeding. A good day.

    :-)
