The name of the class is Revealing the Sacred - A Photography Playshop. I've never taken a photography class before but I liked the name of this class and it came at a good time - right after I returned home from Whidbey Island, bringing some not-so-great photos with me.
We were to take photos in black and white today so that we could learn more about light while not being drawn to focus on color. Next week, I am to bring a print of a photo from today that speaks to me.
Oy.
Which one of these would you choose?

ReplyDeleteMy immediate favourite is the last one because of the strong diagonals reflecting light. (I've no idea what it is though!)
Then I considered the larger bird photos where the light was reflected softly on the plumage.
But my second favourite is the silhouette of the bird as I like the composition and placing of the bird in the frame.
A humble opinion only.
I'd like to take part in something called a photograhy playshop!
PS ... I love the changing photos you put on your header .. particularly the cloud formation and the one recently of water drops on a flower.

Carol, I was drawn to #1 and #4. The contrast in #4 is what struck me, and #1 because it's spring and my flowers are opening. But I'm a fan of your photo in general.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your input, Dancing. I'm having a heck of a time with this. The last one is, I think, the best done. But straight lines and metal don't really speak to me. (BTW, it is a photo of a bunch of chairs stacked up. They have plastic seats and backs and these are the "legs")

Oh, Nick... Once again, you and I are drawn to the same thing. That one is the one that touches my heart. It's not the best photo of the bunch, but I love it most.

The last one seems a little cold and industrial to me. I like the first three, and they each have their own unique charms, but I think if I had to choose just one it would be the second; there's something very striking about seeing motion in a still image.
