On wings

I pray to the birds.
I pray to the birds because I believe

they will carry the messages of my heart upward.

I pray to them because I believe in their existence,

the way their songs begin and end each day

- the invocations and benediction of earth.

I pray to the birds because they remind me of what I love

rather than what I fear.

And at the end of my prayers,

they teach me how to listen.
- Terry Tempest Williams

Something I needed to be reminded about.

  2. I really thought that I had commented on this post! Perhaps my mind isn't as sharp as I thought it was!

This is a really impressive and inpiring post, Carol. I love the photograph and the words of Terry Tempest Williams are not only lovely, they ring very true. Thank you, my friend.

  3. Hi Carol. When I was at a cottage near Lake Michigan recently, I spent a lot of time observing birds just outside the window. They are fascinating creatures. Highly watchable, and yes, conducive to peace. Except for the ravens behind my house, who terrorize the smaller birds in their nests. The smaller ones do fight back though. With gusto.
