Our cottonwood trees have so much cotton that it appears a blizzard is going on outside. This is a photo of one of the skylights in our screened-in-porch. It is plastered with leaves - thank you hailstorm - and cotton from the cottonwoods. I love the artwork these elements made.
Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night.

Wonderful, Carol! Your photography is stunning! When are your turning pro?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nick!
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone will be paying me the big bucks soon, but I have fun, anyway.
The cottonwood and leaves remind me of handmade wrapping paper I have seen.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you could dry it in the sun and use it?
Dancing,
ReplyDeleteI looked at the skylight today and it looks totally different. Rain makes the cotton shrivel up, so now, it only looks like there are leaves on the skylight.
Maybe I could print the photos and make paper out of that!
The rich hue of those begonias is breathtaking. I agree with Nick. You are quite the photographer, Carol.
ReplyDeleteIn our former gallery location we were across from cottonwoods lining the banks of the Santa Fe River. This time of the year, the gallery was full of cotton! Once an unsuspecting tourist thought we had some kind of toxic fuzz blowing out of the air conditioner duct. Didn't even have an air conditioner but a swamp cooler.
San, You would love this pot of begonias. They must be some kind of hybrid that produces huge blossoms. In the pot are plants with all colors of flowers. I wish that I could capture the beauty of the entire pot.
ReplyDeleteI can understand how someone unfamiliar with cottonwoods could think the flying cotton was something sinister. It's some strange stuff!
