Imagine what it would be like if another country were to invade us and then continue to bomb and kill and wreak havoc on our lives FOR EIGHT YEARS.
Imagine living with high unemployment, much poverty, and constant war.
How would you feel about the country who brought you those eight years of violence?
Next month marks the 8th anniversary of the war in Afghanistan.
We are ruining the lives of many people who are just like us.
Let your legislators know that
enough is enough.

In addition to the US troops, I'd like to mention the 200+ British soldiers who have died during this conflict ...

How would I feel if I were an Afghani suffering from the US invasion for the last eight years? Not very good, unless maybe I was a woman or other citizen who had benefited at least somewhat from the improvements in human rights that has (apparently) occurred since the Taliban were kicked out.

What happens to those improvements in human rights if we leave (which I think we should)? Every cloud has a silver lining (or vice versa)?
Thank you, Dancing.
ReplyDeleteYes. over 1400 coalition soldiers have died in Afghanistan.
No way of knowing how many Afghan citizens have died...
Larry,
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting!
The facts on how much change has occurred in Afghanistan seem to change depending on what you read.
I also found articles that describe horrible conditions continuing for women in the outlying areas.
My teacher is on her way to Afghanistan right now. It will be interesting to hear her take.
Yes, at this point, there are no good answers, but I agree that we need to get out.,
