The Visit

I don't think of her so often anymore.

But a few days ago, as I walked into the dark front hallway, I had the thought, "Look out for Kitty so you don't step on her." Then I remembered.

Last night she visited me in my dream. I needed to protect her from other animals. I needed to call to her to lure her away from danger. I had the thought that if I told her in a firm to voice to come, she may not do it, but if I called to her sweetly, she would probably come.

So, even though the situation seemed rather urgent, I sang out, "Come here, sweet kitty, kitty."

And she came to me and she purred and we loved on each other like we used to do, rubbing noses together in total love.

Awwww, my sweet kitty.

I don't think of myself as being a person who asks for things in a demanding or authoritative way, but today I will pay extra attention to making any requests with kindness and with a heart as big as this heart feels when I think of Ms. Kitty.

  2. Once in awhile I still have a dream with a pet or pets from my past. Sometimes it feels like they are really visiting you....

  3. There are times I'm sure my Alice has come back to visit.

I don't think a cat's soul is as bound to its body as we seem to be. I think it's easier for them walk between worlds.

  4. Hey Foam,

It's been a great day. Thank you!

I bet Roscoe was a good kitty, just like Ms. Kitty. They certainly leave their mark on us, huh? (In more ways than one!)

  5. Otowi,

I don't think that I have ever dreamed about a past pet before. Or if I did, it was too long ago to remember. Our pets do at least stay alive in our hearts.

  6. Thomas,

Maybe. It sure does feel good to continue to feel the connection.

  8. I have tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. ALthough I never held her and she never rubbed herself against my legs, I loved Ms. Kitty. I loved her a lot.

  9. Sunshine,

    How are you?

I do miss her and it was nice to experience the love again as if my kitty was right here, right now!

  10. Aw, Nick. Now you've gotten me all teary. I wasn't even teary from the dream, but your tears and lumpy throat got me going.

Awww... Ms. Kitty knew that you and Alex sent your love to her. She was surrounded by love in this life.

  11. I've read this post three times now. I thought I posted a comment, but I guess not. I grew up with dogs, so never acquired the cat vernacular, but a beloved pet is a beloved pet. What a sweet way to write about your cat.

  12. G.G.,

I, too, grew up with dogs and I consider myself a dog person. Ms. Kitty came into our lives when my kids were young and we were renting and not allowed to have a dog. I thought my son and daughter needed pets so we had a rabbit, gerbils and even a rat. The best addition was Ms. Kitty, though. And with over 20 years of living with her, she was as much a part of the family as anyone. Heck, I lived with her longer than I've lived with Mr. CFP!

So I guess I'm not just a dog person. Ms. Kitty changed all of that.

Thanks for taking part in my remembrance of Ms. Kitty.

  13. What a gift this dream of Ms. Kitty was, Carol. I recently dreamed about an old friend who died many years ago. I felt I was receiving a message for waking life too. Just beautiful.

  14. San,

It's hard to find a place where that invisible red thread isn't.
