Right Here, Right Now

On Wednesday and Thursday, the snow came down and came down. Truthfully, it wasn't always coming down - sometimes it came across, blowing horizontally from the north.

On Wednesday I was at the office and the powers-that-be decided to close the place down at 2:00, due to the weather. I wanted to go home and wasn't looking forward to the drive. I had heard that the highway we normally take home was closed, due to multiple accidents. We would have to take an alternate route, which I prefer in the snow anyway. Still...

I stood at the glass door, waiting for Mr. Carol For Peace to get done messing with his computer (yes, we work in the same office). I felt antsy, impatient, nervous - wanting to get home NOW.

Then, I wondered what it would be like to be a small child looking out the glass door. All of the layers of thoughts and opinions that have formed over many years started peeling away until all I saw outside was amazing white snow.

It was absolutely, stunningly precious!

  1. When I saw news reports of 44 inches or more in the Denver area, you were the very first person I thought of. Stay safe and enjoy nature's splendor before it turns to gray and black slush.

  2. We didn't get near that much down here in my part of Colorado. Dust is more like it. But I still thought it was beautiful, and I liked the cold! I had hoped for a snow day, but instead I was inside for 13-15 hours each day doing parent teacher conferences. That was okay, too. Stay warm and safe!

  3. Whilst you've had all that snow, here in the UK we've had unseasonably warm weather - in fact in London I think it was 20 degrees Celsius the last couple of days. We've been able to sit outside in the garden for our lunch.

Glad you ARE in the same office as Mr CfP so that you could both travel together.

I too say stay warm and safe. xx

  6. Yep, that wasn't just a snow. It was a blizzard.

I rather believe that God created snow for children.

  7. Thanks for thinking of me and for the good wishes, Robert! Today was a warm, sunny day and a LOT of snow melted. That's Colorado for you!

  8. Otowi,

Wow! You had some long days. Your students are so lucky to have you.

I guess it was our turn for the snow. Don't you usually get more than us? I'm having a hard time liking the cold this year. I've become an herbal tea fiend, trying to keep my innards warm.

  9. Dancing,

Eating lunch outside sounds wonderful! Checking out my great celsius/fahrenheit converter, I am truly impressed with the temps you guys are having. As much as I love the warmth, sumthin' about that just ain't right!

alas, we rarely get snow in Baltimore. Usually it's just a bitter, bone-chilling rain that makes my bones hurt.

  12. Indigo,

Yes, that would be hard for me, too. Our air is dry and it doesn't hurt the bones so much.

I hope that you find a lot of ways to stay warm this winter!

  13. Well, I think it is usually one or the other - either the low is up near the state NM/CO state border and you all get more snow than us, or it is down near Albuquerque and we get more. You definitely got it this time!

I hope you are doing well!
